A one-day food forage and way-out wine tour of North Texas with FOOD Roots on Saturday, May 3rd, 2008, 9am - 10pm.

Travel by private bus visiting a grass-fed beef producer, a farmstead cheese maker and an award winning winery, all in the small towns and countryside southwest of Dallas and Fort Worth.

Cost: $150, includes round trip transportation by bus or van from Dallas, all tours, lunch, cheese tasting, wine tasting and dinner.

BURGERS: Burgundy Pasture Beef, Grandview, TX
Jon and Wendy Taggart raise and pasture their cattle on native and select cultivated grasses at their ranch outside of Grandview. Tour the ranch and learn about the importance of grass-fed beef. At the Boucherie (butcher shop) in Grandview the Taggerts dry-age and cut their own beef for optimal flavor and tenderness.

CHEESE: Veldhuizen Family Farm, Dublin, TX
Stuart and Connie Veldhuizen make aged, raw milk cheese from the milk of cows on their own sustainable farm. They graze their cows year round on pastures of oats, rye, sudan, alfalfa, and clover. The cheese is cave-aged on the farm.

VIOGNIER: Brennan Vineyards, Comanche, TX
Pat and Trellise Brennan have been making wine in Comanche since 2001 with grapes from their own vineyards in Comanche and Newburg. Pat will be our host for a private wine tasting and a tour of their beautiful new winery. Their historic tasting room, built in 1879, is one of the oldest remaining homesteads in Texas.
