Toro DO (Denominación de Origen) Wines from Spain May 14, 2007

Toro DO is located in the Castilla y León region of Spain, in the Duero River Valley. Big, rich reds are made from Tinta del Toro. Rosés and whites are made from Garnacha, Verdejo, and Malvasia.

Vineyards are situated between 2000 and 2500 feet above sea level. Summers are long, hot and dry and winters are short and extremely cold.

Wines From Spain notes that a Toro DO wine, Numanthia-Termes, Termanthia 2004, was rated 100 points by Robert Parker, February, 2007.

Winemakers and winery owners are introducing their wines, many rated 92-points and higher (Robert Parker), in Dallas, Washington, DC, and Miami. Complimentary tasting at The Melrose Hotel, Dallas, for media and wine professionals Monday, 14-May, 11a-4p, Reservation required.
